Breaking Down Again

Parody of Tears for Fears’ Break It Down Again

Breaking down again…
Keep losing my screws.
Gotta get a repair.
Mileage like an ant.
Oil sticks to the floor!

When the engine acts up, you know it’s breaking down!
When the spark plugs foul out, when it hits that sound!
The automatic transmission has been shot for months.
The engine groans and grinds with the sound of a rod knock.
The radiator has been running dry for several years.
The underside has been reduced to a rust block.
And all the fluid, and all the oil in the world
won’t stop the oil from dripping onto the concrete ground!
I know it’s breaking down!

Breaking down again…
Gotten parts that are new
And are free of wear.
Want one new but I can’t
It’s just like before!

Now the speedometer’s falling, I know it breaking down!
I can hear the backfire, how I hate that sound!
No matter what octane I give, the engine still burps.
Borrowed a cap from a Tempo but it didn’t fit.
I’ve come to face the fact with this can of lemons.
I’ll have it towed tomorrow because it’s just a piece of shit!
And all the fluid, and all the gas in the world,
won’t stop the oil from dripping onto the concrete ground!
I know it’s breaking down!

Putting around,
Muffler’s on the ground.
Muffler’s on the ground with everything, all the parts and the gas tank dragging along, and along, and along, and along!
Putting around, putting around.
Putting….

I hope I get a new car, perhaps a Cadillac.
Something that runs without revving the cold engine hard!
But now I’m stuck with this pile of clanking crap.
The same one that’s flat to the ground!
I know it’s broken down!
Broken down, down…..

Breaking down again.
No more dreams of speeding.
No more gassing up.
It’s time to be hauled.
Breaking down again.
No more dreams of speeding…
