Tasting Bolivian

I poured myself a French Press of Bolivia FTO SHG EP Carnavi, roasted yesterday to Full City (intended to roast to City+ but I’m a rookie roaster). The roast smell is dominant, followed by citrus and bittersweet chocolate, maybe even more like cocoa powder.

Tasting the cup reveals a strong roasted, cocoa powder presence. I can taste a little bit of toffee. This coffee is an equivalent of a Riesen candy, bittersweet, almost unsweeted chocolate covering a bittersweet caramel toffee. It’s a good cup. I brought some for our church’s morning men’s group and no one complained. The finish is clean. No aftertaste. I love this coffee.

Next time I roast this, I want to try to lighten up on the roast level maybe to only City+ to see if I can bring out the citrusy flavors. Regardless, I’m sastified.
