Why start with one?

When trying to start an incremental habit, I decided to start with one.

One mile.

One minute.

Why start with such a somewhat insignificant number?

Because I’m focusing more on establishing the habit rather than the length of time I start.

One habit I’m trying to install is that of regularly blogging. I’ve tried a bunch of different techniques, but fizzle out after a few inspired weeks.

So I decided this year to try something different. Start with spending one minute on blogging, publish it no matter how bad it is, and increase my time to 52 minutes by the end of the year.

For this week, I needed to spend at least one minute on blogging, but I’ve already spent about six minutes writing this. No matter. I published consistently everyday except Monday this week.
