Bug on the Ground

Shine light in the kitchen and the roaches will run
Cause they’ve having too much fun
Munchin’ on the crumbs and dirt scattered on the floor
Wondering “Where’s there more?”
And though I once was a bug on the ground
I can’t bring them out to the Light

I’m weak and poor and pressed on all sides
Just trying to lead just one to Your flame
The odds against me, these thorns run deep
Yet Your grace is always sufficient for me

A friend invites me to the backseat of the car
To do more than watch stars
Can’t see the brightest One of them all
You knock but they hear no call
And my mind is starting to ache
From the rationale of choosing despair
The only thing they believe is
Their lives are beyond Your repair

I’m slow of speech with folly to spare
Just sputtering out what I know of Your word
No one’s listening as far as I see
But I know Your grace is sufficient for me
