Fetus’ Pax

What was I thinking?
I never knew your name
You were stripped away
Before I even knew
That you had existence
Growing inside
But now you’re ahead of me
Even though you died

Departed in peace
And I bear the shame
Of blood and the blame
Ridding you was oh so easy
But it’s me
Who lies in the deep
Chained in the grave
All this blood on my hands
Is killing me

I had a friend
Who’s gone and done the same
And now I fear
For the role I’ve played
People pray the words of Jabez
Hoping for blessing
I only dare ask
That I might not cause more pain

Departed in peace
Your souls reign above
While mine’s stained with blood
All my goodness
Cannot bring you from your graves
You’re dead yet alive
Yet I’m coming undone
Ironic how my hands clean not
Save the blood of God’s Son

The butchery carries on
And we’re all the blame
What will this nation expect
When He returns on Judgment Day?
But I owe you thanks
For exposing my sin
Stained by your blood
Cleansed by His
Maybe we’ll be friends in the other age

Our slaughter carries on
Your martyrs receive their crowns
Father, forgive us
So we can also live in Your glorious age
